MERRITT ISLAND, FL (Nov. 18, 2011) – NASCAR legend, Geoff Bodine, is due to race the No. 36 Luke & Associates (Luke) Chevrolet  in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship at the Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 20, 2011.

“Geoff has been representing Luke since June, and watching him over this NASCAR season has been an honor. With the championship being the last race of the season, we are excited to see what happens and celebrate a safe and wonderful year,” Jim Barfield, President and CEO of Luke, said.

This season’s finale will mark Bodine’s sixth race with Luke as the primary sponsor. Although Bodine has been a NASCAR driver since 1979, he still desired to race.  The partnership between Luke and Bodine presented itself in June 2011, and is a story Bodine calls being at the right place at the right time. Together, Luke, Bodine, and Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) joined forces to bring the Bodine and the Luke Chevrolet to the track. Recently, Bodine swapped numbers and crews with TBR teammate Dave Blaney in hopes to give the team a better chance to qualify.

“You never know who you’re shaking hands with. You never know who you’re smiling at. Smile, say hello, and shake hands with everybody because you just don’t know where it is going to lead you. Racing this season has been a privilege, and I am so thankful to be participating again in a sport I love. Luke has made that possible for me. I’m looking forward to Homestead and hoping to finish the season strong,” Bodine said.
